Westbourne Grove

A former bank building dating from the late-19th century and adjacent mid-19th century villa are situated at the edge of a conservation area within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.  Empty and derelict for some years, planning permission has been granted for a scheme to retain the buildings and convert them into apartments and retail units.

Working alongside Stiff + Trevillion Architects, Sarah was appointed at RIBA stage 3 to carry out a condition survey of the façades proposed to be retained, identifying defects and writing a scope of repairs for the various elements.  This included repairs, cleaning and repointing to decorative terracotta and brickwork, and repairs and replacement of metalwork and leadwork.

Sarah has provided ongoing conservation advice as the project progresses, including preparing a method statement to describe areas of reinstatement arising from conditions found on site.
